Italian Community Concert

Concert Group Singers

Since 2016, each Spring semester, the Center for Italian Studies sponsors an Italian concert, together with the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures and the Nanovic Institute for European Studies. The concert brings together students of the Italian course, Language through Lyrics: Rhyme, Rock and Romance (ROIT 20202), with faculty and staff members from across the university, as performers.

Each year, the concert is conceived around a specific theme or artist. In 2016, the concert focused on Mina, while in 2017, it explored the work of several Italian cantautori, or singer-songwriters, on the theme of Italian history through music. In 2018, with over 800 spectators in attendance at the Leighton Concert Hall in the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, the concert focused on the role of the artist in Italy.
