Video conference seminars with the OVI

A highlight of the collaboration between the Center for Italian Studies and the OVI is a series of video conference seminars held each spring semester since 2016, as well as in 2013-14, on various topics regarding early Italian literature, philology, and lexicography.

The Tesoro della Lingua Italiana delle Origini (TLIO) Project: A Historical Dictionary of the Italian Language before 1375

Collaboration with the OVI includes student internships, instructional programs in Italian philology and lexicography, and professional training. Since June 2008 several members of the Notre Dame community have been conducting research on early Italian texts and writing entries for the TLIO dictionary.

The project is open to faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and advanced undergraduates. Participants will learn to research and publish entries for the TLIO dictionary. Those interested should contact the program manager, Demetrio S. Yocum.

OVI Summer Internships for Students

As part of the M.A. in Italian Studies and Ph.D. in Italian at the University of Notre Dame, each summer the Center for Italian Studies offers internships to promising student-scholars, who spend one to two weeks in Florence at the OVI Institute. Interns in Florence participate in the day-to-day work of the OVI Institute where they acquire professional training in digital philology and lexicography, while refining their research skills on early Italian texts and writing entries for the TLIO dictionary.

The OVI Summer Internship Program is open to current graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in Italian Studies at Notre Dame. Participants are responsible for their own travel, room, and board. Modest stipends and/or partial fellowships are offered to help pay living and travel expenses. Those interested in the OVI Summer Internships should contact Demetrio S. Yocum.
