David Lummus, a Notre Dame assistant professor of Italian in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, is among the contributors to Georgetown University’s Berkley Forum series celebrating the seventh centenary of Dante’s death and titled “Dante: A Prophet of Hope.”

Lummus’ essay, “Dante’s Poetics of Transformation” explores how Dante’s poem transfigures the poet’s individual experience into humanity’s own journey toward self-transcendence.
