The World of Master Bartholomaeus: Medicine, Reform, and Renaissance in the 12th Century

Prof. Faith Wallis’s research centers on how western medieval peoples transmitted, received, and transformed ideas, information, and techniques relating to the natural world and the human body through texts and their manuscript vehicles. Two areas of particular concentration are the development of an academic literature of medicine in the 12th century (notably through the creation of the “Articella” anthology), and the medieval sciences of time-reckoning.
