Research Opportunities at Notre Dame's Rome Global Gateway

Two new fellowship opportunities to conduct research at Notre Dame's Rome Global Gateway will be offered by Notre Dame International, the Office of the Vice-President of Research, the College of Arts and Letters, and Italian Studies at Notre Dame. 

Short-Term Graduate Research Fellowship at Notre Dame’s Rome Global Gateway

The University of Notre Dame’s Rome Global Gateway invites applications for short-term fellowships from graduate students and postdoctoral fellows whose work would benefit from conducting research in Rome. The initiative is co-sponsored by Notre Dame International, the Office of the Vice-President of Research, the College of Arts and Letters, and Italian Studies at Notre Dame. 

Deadline: Applications welcome on a rolling basis; fellowships will be awarded until all available funding for academic year 2014-2015 is utilized.

Fellowship Range: Award amounts will range from $2500 to $5000.

Eligibility: Notre Dame graduate students and postdoctoral scholars in any discipline of the humanities, social sciences, or the sciences, who propose short-term research projects to be undertaken in Rome during academic year 2014-15 and summer of 2015.

Application Materials: Please send the following materials to Silvia Dall'Olio:

1)    C.V.

2)    Project proposal of less than 750 words

3)    Detailed budget, including any cost sharing from other sources, such as the ISLA Graduate Student Award or the Zahm Travel Fund or other Departmental or Graduate Program Funding

4)    Contact information for two scholarly referees

These fellowships are intended to support short-term periods of research in residence in Rome—ranging from one week to one month—and include office space in the Rome Global Gateway and some assistance with arranging housing.

Faculty Short-Term Fellowships at Notre Dame’s Rome Global Gateway

The University of Notre Dame’s Rome Global Gateway invites applications for short-term fellowships from faculty in the College of Arts and Letters whose work would benefit from conducting research in Rome. The initiative is co-sponsored by Institute for Scholarship in the Liberal Arts and Notre Dame International.

Deadline: Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis; fellowships will be awarded until all available funding for the academic year 2014-2015 is utilized.

Fellowship range: Award amounts will range from $2500 to $5000.

Eligibility: Faculty in the College of Arts and Letters who propose short-term research projects to be undertaken in Rome during the academic year 2014-15 and the summer of 2015.

Application: Interested faculty should submit a Small Research and Creative Works proposal through the ISLA online portal. Faculty members are only allowed one such grant per year.
