Thursday January 29 at 4:30pm, Special Collections, Hesburgh Libraries
Vita nova - Zygmunt G. Barański (Notre Dame)
In 2015, the 750th anniversary of Dante’s birth, and the 20th anniversary of the founding of the William & Katherine Devers Program in Dante Studies, the William & Katherine Devers Program in Dante Studies and Italian Studies at Notre Dame will host a celebration of the poet’s so-called “minor works” with a lecture series and a publication.
The series will take place on eight Thursdays throughout 2015, beginning in January and ending in November. Twelve prominent scholars from the US, Italy and the UK have been invited to deliver lectures in the series. Each lecture will address one of the “other works” by presenting the principal interpretive trends and issues relating to the text and focusing on some of its aspects of particular interest. In conjunction with the lecture series, Notre Dame University Press will publish a “companion to Dante’s other works.”
