Italian Studies at Notre Dame is hosting an informational meeting about the Opera del vocabolario italiano (OVI) project. Notre Dame is partnering with the OVI, a branch of the prestigious Accademia della crusca (founded in 1583), on the Tesoro della Lingua Italiana delle Origini (TLIO) project. The TLIO is a historical dictionary of the Italian language before 1375. Since June 2008 several members of the Notre Dame community have been conducting research on early Italian texts and writing entries for the TLIO dictionary. Collaboration with the OVI also includes student internships, instructional programs in Italian philology and lexicography, and professional training.

On Monday, April 11, in the ITC building, we will host a video conference with the OVI in Florence. Graduate students, faculty, and advanced undergraduates are invited to attend in order learn more about the OVI project, and to begin training to write and publish entries in the TLIO dictionary.
