University of Notre Dame

Center for Italian Studies

Our Mission

Basilica di San Pietro in Vaticano

Our goal is to promote scholarly collaboration among faculty and graduate students from universities and research centers in Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the rest of the world.

The Italian Studies at Notre Dame initiative supports doctoral studies and exchanges of faculty and graduate students.

It also funds postdoctoral fellowships, visiting professorships, and collection development in the Hesburgh Library.

Scholarly Resources

One of the main goals of the Italian Studies Program at Notre Dame – a preeminent research university with a distinctive Catholic character – is to extend and enrich the interdisciplinary character of the humanities in general and of Italian studies in particular.
