New Library acquisition: Le piante di Roma/ Le carte del Lazio

Author: Tracy Bergstrom

The Department of Rare Books and Special Collections has recently acquired the following sets:

Amato Pietro Frutaz.  Le piante di Roma.  Rome, Istituto di Studi Romani, 1962.  Le carte del Lazio.  Rome, Istituto di Studi Romani, 1972.   Both titles contain three volumes with foldout plates.

These two sets of three volumes apiece profusely document the historical corpus of cartographic material that pertains to Rome and its surrounding region of Lazio.  With over 600 plates of Rome and nearly 500 of Lazio, these sets are essential reference books for the study of the history of cartography of the area.   Due to their scarcity, these items will be housed within Rare Books and Special Collections, 102 Hesburgh Library.
