The lecture will be a wide-ranging set of reflections on the Zahm Dante collections, exploring various facets of the Comedy and minor works in print in Venice and Florence. Vita nuova, Convivio and De vulgari eloquentia, Rime). Close attention will be paid to the variety and richness of paratextual features (including portraits and illustrations) and their significance for understanding and appreciating questions of readership and reading styles in Renaissance Italy.
